In Therabill, you can indicate who the referring physician is for a patient using the referring physician entry field on the add / edit client form (see image to the right, highlighted with red square). When you enter a referring physician for a client, the referring physician goes into your referring physician database automatically. You can think of the referring physician entry form on the add / edit client form as a quick entry into your referring physician database. You can add more information, such as FAX numbers, address and so on to your referring physicians through your referring physician database.
Managing Your Referring Physicians.
To get to your referring physician list, put your mouse over providers in the top green navigation bar and then click Referring in the sub-navigation bar. You will now see a list of all referring physicians that you have entered. Each referring physician will show their name, their NPI and will have an edit icon and a delete icon .
Deleting the referring phsyician
To delete the referring physician, click the delete icon associated with the referring physician that you would like to delete. You will be presented with a dialog to verify that you actually want to delete the referring physician. WARNING: Deleting a referring physician will remove the referring physician information from each of the clients the referring physician was associated with.
Editing a referring phsyician
You can edit the referring physician by clicking the edit icon associated with the referring physician. This will open up the edit referring physician form (see image to the right). From the edit referring provider form, you can add additional information or change information about the referring physician that you already have entered.
- NPI: The NPI must be a valid NPI. Therabill does a check sum on the NPI to determine if it is a valid NPI. If it determines that it is not a valid NPI using the check sum, it will indicate in red next to the NPI that it is not valid. If it is valid, it will have a green OK by it. Having a green OK does not mean that Therabill knows that it is the correct NPI, just that the NPI is a valid NPI according to the check sum.
- Box 17A: Usually, Box 17 A on the CMS-1500 is blank. However, if you need information in Box 17A of the referring physician on the CMS-1500 for this provider, you can enter it here.
