As a clinic owner, you may want to take extra security precautions by restricting where your employee's can access your Therabill account. This can be done by adding IP Address login restrictions. Using IP address login restrictions, you can allow employee's to only be able to login from a specifically allowed IP address or you can indicate specific IP addresses that are restricted from having access.
I do not even know what an IP address is...
If you are not aware of what an IP address is, you may want to get in touch with your IT staff to apply these restrictions. Without knowing what IP addresses are or how they are assigned to your clinic's server, you may inadvertently lock all of your employees out of Therabill.
If your clinic does not have a static IP address, then you may not want to create IP address restrictions. If your clinic's IP address ever changes (as it will do if you do not have a static IP address), then your employees may get locked out of Therabill.
Who do the restrictions apply to?
The IP address restrictions only apply to office staff accounts (user accounts) and provider portal logins. The owner of the account (the username and password you created when you created your Therabill account) will not be restricted by the IP address restrictions.
How to create an IP address restriction
Login to your Therabill account (with a username/password that has Admin/Owner permissions). Put your mouse over Admin in the top navigation bar and then click on Defaults/Settings in the drop down menu. On the left of the Defaults/Settings page, click on Administrative in the menu bar.
You will now be at your Administrative Defaults/Settings page. Under the heading Therabill Access Restrictions you will see two areas for Allowed IP Addresses and Restricted IP Addresses.
- Allowed IP Addresses: If you do not have any allowed IP addresses entered, then by default, Therabill will allow logins from any IP address (unless it is in the restricted IP addresses block). If you have one or more allowed IP addresses entered, then Therabill will only allow logins from the IP addresses listed in the allowed IP address block.
- Restricted IP Addresses: If you enter an IP address in the restricted IP addresses, then anybody attempting to log in from one of those IP addresses will be blocked.
To add an allowed IP address, click the Add Allowed link at the top right of the Allowed IP Addresses block. To add a restricted IP address, click the Add Restricted link above the Restricted IP Address block.
A form will appear where you can type in the IP address. Enter the IP address and then click the Add IP button. You will now see that IP show up in the respective block (Allowed or Restricted).
Use of wild card characters in the IP
Therabill will allow you to use the * wild card character when entering the IP address. For example, to allow logins from all IP addresses that begin with 192.168, you can enter 192.168.*.*
