How can I check the status of submitted claims?
Regarding the status of submitted claims, Therabill can provide the following information:
- Insurance company acknowledgement of receipt of the claim
- Insurance company notice of rejection of a claim due to errors
You can check on this by clicking Filing in the top navigation bar to access your CMS-1500 Filing Cabinet. Use the search filters at the top, to find the claim. Each claim has a color bar associated with it. Use the legend on the right to determine what each color means.
If the color bar is green, the insurance company has acknowledged receipt of the claim. Once the claim is processed, the color bar could change to red to indicate rejection due to an error.
If the claim has remained green for more than 10 to 14 days and you have not received an Explanation of Benefits, we recommend contacting the insurance company to do a claim status inquiry. You can do this any time, but you may want to wait a few days to allow the claim to get into their adjudication system.
We recommend that you wait until you receive the Explanation of Benefits from the insurance company before re-submitting a claim that has been rejected or denied. For instructions on re-submitting claims, please see this instructional video:
